Pottery Barn {Inspired} NOEL sign

If you have been around this blog for awhile you may know I have a slight love for all things French inspired, especially French inspired signs.

I am sure by now everyone has seen this sign from Pottery Barn.  We all love it but for $149 we also don't love it!

There have been several amazing recreations of this sign but here is mine.

Supplies:

*Wooden letters (I found mine at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 each but they were 50% off when I bought them)
*red paint (or color of your choice)
*antique glaze (optional)
*2 3" x 8' pieces of wood ($0.97 each at Lowe's)
*wood stain
*carpenters glue

First I spray painted the letters with some leftover red paint.

Once they were dried I gave them a coat of glaze which I let dry for 10 minutes and then wiped off.

When the letters had dried I glued them together with hot glue!

I wanted the sign to be bigger then just the letters so I bought two 3" x 8' pieces of wood from Lowe's and had them cut down to 2' strips and then stained them with Dark Walnut stain leftover from my table project.  Once they dried I glued them together with carpenters glue!

I used the carpenters glue to also attach them to the wood strips and once it all had dried I sealed it up with furniture wax.

It found a nice little home outside by our front door, for this year anyway!

I love the Pottery Barn version but I LOVE mine much more especially since it cost me less then $10 to make!
