Kids Bathroom {Mini} Makeover

My 3 little sweet peas share a bathroom and for now it works since they are all under the age of 6.  We've had the same decor in it since it works for all 3 of them but I wanted to brighten up the room a bit.

We purchased our home as a resale and all the bathrooms had titled showers and tub surrounds which I love but it's all so...brown.

For awhile I had painted two walls blue, smacked some numbered wall decals up and called it a day.  Then I got the itch to install some beadboard somewhere in my house and the bathroom was the ideal spot!

Sorry for the "in progress" photo! I was so anxious to get started I forgot to take photos of the sad little blue wall!  The white spackle marks are first where a towel bar used to be that got moved behind the toilet. Then some pieces of wood with hooks on them were hanging there for towels.

And after....

I did go from one blue to another but I don't know what the color is.  I bought the paint from Lowe's as an oops paint when I painted my laundry room a little over a year ago.  It's a really pretty color I can't believe it was in the oops section!

The hooks are from Hobby Lobby and painted with craft paint.  If you can't guess they are my kids initials :)

Shower curtains, numbered wall decals, towels, bath mat and bucket all from Pottery Barn Kids.

This is the first "big" project in my house that I did without my dad's help :)  So I'm proud of myself.  It certainly isn't perfect but it looks super cute and you can only see the imperfections if you look super close.  Or look behind the door where the top moulding is 2 inches too short and I haven't had time to get a new piece to cut.  So uneven walls and all I accomplished it!

The very last thing to be done is frame out the mirror!  My husband doesn't know it yet but I'm tackling that project next Friday when I'm off work.  Think I'll just put it up there and see how long it takes him to notice!

  1. I love the bead board with the hooks, and did the very same thing in my kids' bathroom. Now if I could just get them to USE the hooks! I don't know how much easier I can make it for them!

    1. Thank you so much Jenny! My kids actually get mad if I am not paying attention and hang their towels on the wrong hook!
